Here's another one to make up for my inconsistency!

Today is another lyrics analysis of Worm Food by Cavetown!
---
Why does this matter so much to me?
Sometimes I wish I didn't matter to anybody
And sometimes I forget I do
You're winning now, good for you
It sucks for me (for me)
Flutter like a bat into hell
I'm coming home
They all said, "Put that thing back
Where it belongs"
Jokes on you
I don't belong anywhere
I am worm food
Oh-oh
Jokes on you
I don't belong anywhere
I am worm food
My heart's not treating me well
I'm losing track
Of all the reasons I had for fighting back
And I'm scared
I don't belong anywhere
Oh-oh
Jokes on you
I don't belong anywhere
I am worm food
Oh-oh
Jokes on you
I don't belong anywhere
I am worm food
Oh-oh
Oh-oh
Oh-oh
Oh-oh
Why does this matter so much to me? (Jokes on you, I don't belong anywhere)
Sometimes I wish I didn't belong to anybody
Sometimes I forget I do (jokes on you, I don't belong anywhere)
You're winning now, good for you

Onto the analysis!
The song is about relishing the idea that nothing we worry about in life ultimately matters, since we’re alll going to die and become part of the earth eventually anyways, becoming, as the song is titled, 'worm food'. Even if you end up achieving nothing, everyone will eventually serve the purpose of feeding worms and helping grass grow, keeping the planet alive. Depressing? Certainly, but it is Cavetown. What did you expect?
The song also has meanings of, as it is pretty clear, lonliness. About not belonging, overthinking, caring too much about little things. All in all, a very deep, very relatable song that I absolutely love.
I feel like Cavetown is an artist everyone should come across at least once, even if you don't end up actively listening to his works. Whether you can relate or not, he's an artist that puts so much emotion and personal story into his songs, which is exactly what we need now that people are losing things to relate to.
